OUR MISSION: To marshal resources to realize actionable plans for community development on behalf of the Westside Atlanta area in order to create a vibrant, prosperous, sustainable and equitable community that enhances the quality of life for current and future residents. 


OUR VISION:  UCDC is the catalyst that provides leadership for community-driven development for Westside Atlanta area.

 

Our History

The University Community Development Corporation (UCDC) was chartered as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit corporation on June 24, 1988 by Clark Atlanta University.  On January 3, 1989, the charter was amended to reflect the participation of the member institutions of the Atlanta University Center (AUC), which included Clark Atlanta University (CAU), the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC)Morehouse College, the Morehouse School of MedicineMorris Brown College, and Spelman College. In 1999, UCDC reorganized under the auspices of AUC, Inc., the non-profit organization that oversees the administration of shared resources and consortium activities for the six AUC institutions. Since its inception, UCDC has invested over $6.5 million in the communities surrounding the Atlanta University Center. 

Did You Know?

The UCDC logo features a clock tower on the left that symbolizes the academic institutions that comprise the Atlanta University Center; on the right, it features a single-family home symbolic of the community.  The letters “UCDC” are positioned in the shape of an arch to illustrate the organization’s intended role as the bridge between the Colleges/Universities and the Community.
